Job Duties:

Primary Purpose of Position:

Leads a team of Line Control and Automation Engineers to maintain and improve level of technology and productivity in the Ball plants. Owns the optimization of machine processes to improve cycle time, scrap reduction, quality defects, etc. Partners with Production and Engineering to execute process improvements for all lines.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead a team of Controls Engineers for the development and implementation of global line control and line simulation software.

  • Assures the use of appropriate and consistent technologies.

  • Develop, implement and maintain PLC hardware and software standards for new and existing sites.

  • Maintain new technologies system wide as required.

  • Ensuring infrastructure is effective across all facilities.

  • Emphasizes and drives their team to improve the systems for line control and equipment with the end goal of maximizing Asset Utilization throughout the plant network.

  • Responsible for providing training to plant personnel for the implementation and support of the newly implemented line control system.

  • Provide training for development software for plant personnel to perform modeling on their own.

  • Establish and maintain PLC standards for new and old sites and support new site implementation as required.

  • Ensure line control team and site electricians are competent on PLC programming, agreeing and setting relevant access rights.

  • Determine best line control approach from standard ladder logic to AOI.

  • Determine role out plan of site line control to maximize output across plant network.

  • Develop and implement best practice i.e. maximizing utility savings for blowers, etc.

  • Work with various stakeholders, operations, management and engineering, to ensure buy in and adoption of line control approach.

  • Develop and implement upgrade plan for line control hardware and software infrastructure.

Position Requirements:

  • Broad training in a related usually acquired through college level education or work-related experience

  • Bachelor Degree in Instrumentation and Controls, or Electrical Engineering

  • Job related experience for 4 year(s) minimum

  • Remote and matrixed team leadership experience

  • Must maintain professional competence, ethical integrity, knowledge, and skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Automated and high speed manufacturing experience

  • PLC Programing: Very Strong Knowledge

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Black Belt Certification

  • Proven project planning and management experience.

  • Ability to participate with functional counterparts within the organization and through all stages of planning and development of program objectives

  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and make recommendations

  • Ability to apply intensive and diversified evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard information services techniques, procedures, and criteria

  • 40% of travel
