Engineer Principal – Manufacturing Operations Lead
The Manufacturing Engineering Operations Lead is responsible for manufacturing execution of cutting-edge RF components and systems in a high mix, low volume environment. This position assumes complete responsibility and accountability for quality, schedule, manufacturing efficiency, and risk management.
What you’ll do:
Provide functional supervisory leadership for manufacturing engineers, technician supervisors, and technicians.
Provide daily direction, establish priorities, and direct operational execution in support of a dynamic and fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Ensure a motivated staff.
Establish an operational strategy and plan.
Optimize the manufacturing operations organizational structure to ensure maximum effectiveness and efficiency.
Collaborate with support shops and service centers for schedule priorities.
Manage operational effectiveness using world-class performance metrics.
Maintaining work area sustainment plans using TPM, cross-training, and FOD control.
Embrace, utilize, and promote use of Lean and 6-sigma tools / techniques where justified.
Effectively collaborate with internal customers, stakeholders, and company leadership.
Actively engage in the risk management process (risks and opportunities) including continuous improvement projects and initiatives.
Support new business proposals with accurate basis-of-estimates for labor and other direct labor costs.
Ensure compliance with applicable Quality Business System (QBS) processes, AS9100, and government DFAR regulations; support related compliance audits.
Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
Perform other duties as necessary.
What you’ll need:
BS/BA degree or higher in Engineering or a related field is required plus 12 or more years related experience.
Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or clean room, outdoors or remote research environment.
May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
Successful applicant for this position must be eligible to obtain a DoD clearance or government customer access to classified/sensitive material. A current DoD clearance is not required to be eligible for this position, however the successful applicant will be required to obtain a DoD clearance or government customer access within a reasonable time after the offer is extended and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance. *US Citizenship is Required.
