Qualifications:

Engineer I – Manufacturing (AMC Shops & Service Centers)

Provide Manufacturing Engineering support for Tactical RF aperture products in a high mix / low volume aerospace environment supporting our mission to help the warfighter on advanced technology platforms.

What you’ll do

  • Create and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for the Autoclaves, Etch Lab, Paint and the Adhesive Cutting Lab.

  • Develop and maintain manufacturing process plans for Autoclaves, Etch Lab, Paint and the Adhesive Cutting Lab.

  • Document Systems Engineering reports, validations and update specifications for processes within Autoclaves, Etch Lab, Paint and the Adhesive Cutting Lab.

  • Manage corrective actions and process improvements for Hardware Anomaly Reports.

  • Collaborate with Program Manufacturing Engineers to design tooling for the Autoclaves, Etch Lab, Paint and the Adhesive Cutting Lab.

  • Perform experiments under the direction of Senior Engineers

  • Assume process ownership for Vapor Degreaser and Clean Lab equipment.

  • Demonstrate ability to read and interpret GD&T on drawings.

  • Demonstrate lifecycle management experience of parts, BOM’s, processes, and equipment

  • Provide input to manufacturing schedules that meet multiple program schedule milestones

  • Actively participate and lead continuous improvement (Lean and 6-Sigma) projects including Kaisen events, PFMEAs, 6S Audits and simulation / modeling activities.

  • Manage a “risk list” using existing risk management process.

  • Manage and create Total Productive Maintenance Plans for shop assets

  • Work independently or in a team environment to resolve program issues using data-based root cause analysis; diligently applies firm corrective actions.

  • Demonstrates the ability to organize information, job tasks, and manage time for most efficient and “best value” performance. Establishes personal objectives; sets expectations of self that are aligned with organizational and departmental goals

  • Ensure that all support activities conform to Quality Business System (QBS) and/or contract requirements for quality and performance.

  • Review drawings, procedures and engineering change orders for completeness and accuracy. Implement engineering changes and incorporate corrective action.

  • Understand and competently use in-house business systems including Manufacturing Execution System, manufacturing shop floor control, internal status reporting, and product data management system.

  • Provide general support for Process Controls Engineers and Industrial Engineers.

  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

  • Perform other duties as necessary.

What you’ll need:

  • BS/BA degree or higher in Engineering or a related field is required plus 2 or more years related experience.

  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or clean room, outdoors or remote research environment.

  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.

  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

  • Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

Successful applicant for this position must be eligible to obtain a DoD clearance or government customer access to classified/sensitive material. A current DoD clearance is not required to be eligible for this position, however the successful applicant will be required to obtain a DoD clearance or government customer access within a reasonable time after the offer is extended and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance. *US Citizenship is Required.
