Primary Purpose of Position:
Provides technical support for the research and development function as directed.
Uses Siemens NX to generate 3D model files and associated dimensional drawings for high speed metal forming tools, machine change parts, and product testing equipment.
Uses Siemens NX to generate 3D model files of products, renderings of products, and associated tooling layouts and analysis.
Responsible for maintaining technical drawing database including entry, metadata, revisions, and archiving.
Generates, maintains, and follows geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) drawing standards and templates.
Generates, maintains, and utilizes technical drawing templates.
Participates in preparing bill of materials (BOM’s) and parts lists.
Works with 3rd party grinding and machine shops to accurately communicate technical drawing intent when tooling drawing questions arise.
Takes direction from and interacts with engineers to generate designs.
Recommends software and processes that ensure our drafting and technical documentation systems are efficient, accurate and preserved.
Broad training in a related field usually acquired through college level education or work-related experience
Engineering Degree or Associates/Technical Degree in Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) or Equivalent
Job related experience using Siemens NX for 6 months minimum
Ability to use Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel and Outlook
Experience in drafting of tooling and high tolerance fits preferred
Strong ability to read and understand engineering and isometric drawings
Understanding of tooling drawings, dimensioning, and basic part machining operations
Understanding/experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
Knowledge of tooling fits and finishes
Effective in a small team environment with multiple projects and minimal oversight
Experience using hand held metrology equipment a plus
Experience with BlueCielo Meridian and/or Siemens Teamcenter a plus
Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills
