Job Duties:

Primary Purpose of Position:

Directs and is responsible for the Ball Aluminum Technology (BAT) operations ensuring BAT meets Aerocan overall plans and objectives

Essential Functions:

  • Directs, monitors and improves BAT safety and sustainability performance, goals and objectives.

  • Directs the operations of plants for the manufacture and supply of BAT’s products in accordance with process and product specifications and quality standards complying with contractual and/or customer requirements and meeting financial objectives.

  • Ensure production output, maintenance, quality and OTIF service level objectives achievement

  • Provide leadership, support and counsel to regional plant leadership teams.

  • Directs the performance of plant operations within region and coordinates all activities with central support functions, including finance, Lean Six Sigma, quality, commercial, integrated business planning, engineering, sourcing, human resources, health/safety, and technical services

  • Develops and monitors adherence to plant strategic plan and budgets, operating and capacity plans and capital investment plans. Reviews and propose to the BAT MD, operations and manufacturing major projects involving major financial expenditures

  • Directs the ordering of BAT aluminum requirements in accordance with customer demand, customer supply contracts and aluminum supply agreements maintaining a back-to-back aluminum pass through in our slug pricing

  • Benchmarks BAT best practices across all operational functions/processes, develops position skills matrix and site specific improvement/implementation plans to deploy best practices to improve quality, flexibility, repeatability, production output/efficiency, on time in full (OTIF) performance and the fundamental knowledge base within the plants.

  • Supports the customer development and qualification of existing/new products in current and new regions in accordance with establish growth plans. Supports customer and contract negotiations when required.

  • Develops and implements plans regarding new technology, processing, modernization, and systems to further impact extruded container lightweighting initiatives maximizing common capabilities and performance across all sites. Strong link with R&D for BAT in close relation with market expectations and other Ball R&D resources.

  • Support regional continuous improvement projects and planning activities; analyzing data from the plants to identify areas of focus for the Lean Six Sigma resources and guiding those projects; tracking projects for effectiveness.

  • Supports positive employee relations across each plant location, including with the local/national union leadership, if applicable.

  • Promotes standardization when possible and identifies cost synergies within the BAT and division, as well as develops and optimizes capabilities and equipment utilization.

  • Represents Ball Aerocan’s interest as a Director on Copal’s monthly Steering Committee meetings with Ardagh Corporation.

Position Requirements:

  • Broad training in a related field usually acquired through college level education or work-related experience

  • Job related experience for 6 year(s) minimum

  • Working knowledge of the following areas: -- company policies, procedures, and products – general administrative principles, practices, nomenclature, and procedures – generally accepted managerial practices and procedures – business principles, legal practices, customer needs and expectations, manufacturing operations.

  • Ability to apply intensive and diversified evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard manufacturing techniques, procedures and criteria.

  • Ability to make decisions and give direction while coordinating with functional counterparts within the organization; allocating resources to meet the Advanced Aluminum Technologies plans and objectives.

  • Ability to work with customers to promote or sell ideas or concepts.

  • Ability to effectively create and maintain a teamwork environment.

  • Ability to operate and functionally use a computer.
