Ball Aerospace is a prime contractor leading development teams at AFRL and NASIC. Software Engineer Associate – Embedded Software Development (666614)
In this position, you will work with our avionics cyber team to develop critical cyber security capabilities for avionics systems. This team develops technologies for cyber assessment, mitigations, protections, and revolutionary new avionics architectures for inherently secure platforms. We are looking for engineers with embedded/low level development experience to join our team and make a significant impact in the future of cyber security in cyber physical systems (CPS) such as avionics. Projects range from research/development of new innovative technologies, to the transition of mature cyber technologies to selected systems.
What You’ll Do:
Work with customer and team members to understand project requirements and scope.
Work with team of engineers to develop tools and techniques for cyber vulnerability assessments, cyber mitigations, and next generation avionics systems
Develop/modify software for avionics and related systems.
Perform full software life cycle functions including software/firmware requirements, architecture, design, code, test, integration and documentation.
Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the team. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
Perform other duties as necessary.
What You’ll Need:
BS in Computer Engineering or a related technical field
Successful applicant must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active security clearance
Experience programming in C/C++.
Experience programming assembly language, preferably PowerPC, x86, and/or ARM.
Experience with formal software development processes.
Excellent technical writing and team skills.
In addition, these will set you apart:
Experience developing, integrating, and testing low level or embedded software.
Experience using tools such as IDAPro and disassemblers.
Experience with real-time operating systems including Green Hills Integrity, VxWorks, QNX, embedded Linux, or other RTOS
Current Secret or higher DoD clearance
In addition to the typical educational and experience requirements, a demonstrated capability to perform the essential functions and responsibilities of the position and to exhibit the skills and competencies of the grade level will be considered. Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or clean room, outdoors or remote research environment.
May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
Occasional out of state travel and local commute between Ball and customer facilities will be required
Successful applicant for this position must be eligible to obtain a DoD clearance. A current DoD clearance is not required to be eligible for this position, however the successful applicant will be required to obtain a DoD clearance within a reasonable time after the offer is extended and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance. * US Citizenship is Required
