Ball Aerospace is a prime contractor leading development teams at AFRL and NASIC. Dayton personnel develop advanced hardware and software systems and provide management services to solve customer problems and create new capabilities. This includes designing and developing software tools and threat models, performing extensive data analyses, and executing modeling and simulations using both internally developed and standard models.

Systems Engineering Solutions provides technical and professional services to defense, intelligence, homeland security and space science markets.

Multimedia Designer IV

What you’ll do:

  • Lead a team of multimedia designers to meet tasking by Government customer

  • Review graphic requests and understand the best suited multimedia medium solution

  • Estimate a timeline in terms of planning, processing, review and instructions from stakeholders

  • Assign work to team members with clear guidance and timelines to meet tasking requirements

  • Review and understand research source materials gathered by team members to gain an in depth understanding of the concepts in order to dissect, disassemble and translate highly technical concepts into a visually dynamic deliverable

  • Review and guide translation of technical information from engineers, scientists, subject matter experts and decision makers into ingestible visual products to inform, educate, and facilitate decisions

  • Create visual concepts to communicate ideas that will inspire, inform, and captivate

  • Collaborate with engineers and scientists and interpret verbal and written directions to produce a variety of creative print and digital deliverables

  • Work within established guidelines

  • Coordinate and assist in multimedia materials

  • Actively participate in client meetings and offer insights and steer projects towards the most accurate strategic direction when it comes to design

  • Provide guidance and feedback to team members from client meetings to ensure project is on course

  • Monitor the update, and maintenance of brochures, handouts, reports, containing both general Information and specific technical information that is assigned

  • Prepare and complete the creative concepts, pre-press work, technical specifications, production standards, and color quality standards necessary to complete the project and stay within budget

  • Develop and maintain accurate customer files based on the production work flow

  • Complete revisions based on client feedback

  • Serves as a visual translator between teams of people.

  • Manage multiple timelines and projects simultaneously

  • Provide creative direction and provide aid on other projects that are assigned

  • Develop and implement work schedule for assigned team members

  • Creatively conceptualize and convey analysis visually in multiple styles with an emphasis in infographics current with today’s design trends.

  • Maintain current knowledge on emerging design and design software applications.

  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

  • Perform other duties as necessary.

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field plus 8 or more years related experience.

  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.

  • Strong critical thinking skills to conceptualize and analyze a wide range of analytical and technical materials into a wide variety of multimedia products.

  • Demonstrates sense of design, style, and attention to details.

  • Knowledge and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat, to produce print and digital products.

  • Strong visual aesthetics and a thorough understanding of the design process and workflow.

  • Creative visual interpretation skills applying in a scientific setting.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Strong organizational and planning skills, to manage the workflow of projects, and coordination with other technical disciplines, to meet customer deadlines.

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and maintain a flexible schedule both independently and as an effective team member.

  • Experience interfacing with military or government customer is a plus.

  • Working knowledge of best web design practices as well as general coding knowledge.

  • Experience working with 3-D environments including modeling and animation.

  • Diversity of other software suites to produce variant multimedia products.

  • Photography experience or understanding of photographic principles is a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in an office environment.

  • Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
