Qualifications:

Senior Engineer – Systems Analyst

This engineering position will have performance modelling and simulation as its area of specialization with a focus on analyzing and decomposing of EO Payload requirements, signal chain analysis and planning and development of verification algorithms.

What You’ll Do:

  • Analyze of variety of remote sensing payloads. Systems analysis results will guide and/or decompose system level requirements into subsystem and/or component requirements.
  • Analyze end-to-end (photons to bits) systems to derive system performance – Includes platform motion, radiometric, image quality (ensquared energy and/or MTF), and detector (QE, dark current, diffusion, etc.) characteristics
  • Generate engineering documents including System Engineering Reports, presentations, and analysis plans and procedures.
  • Develop system concepts and interface definitions.
  • Contribute to completion of milestones within specific projects and provide solutions to a variety of technical problems.
  • Preparing and giving presentations to peers/management/customers may be required.
  • Responsibilities may include new business support in the form of proposal writing and/or cost/schedule estimation.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

What You’ll Need:

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or related technical field plus 8 or more years related experience is required.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Strong analytic modeling capabilities - Experience with analysis of payload systems, dissection of complex problems, and identification of key performance drivers.
  • Experienced Excel and MATLAB programming skills. Training for other packages may be provided as needed.
  • Ability to document analysis results and write reports.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interface with technicians, peers, senior-level engineers, and customers.
  • Ability to contribute to the success of small teams through excellent teamwork.
  • Current TS/SCI required.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or clean room, outdoors or remote research environment.
  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
  • Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

Successful candidate will have completed a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. *U.S. Citizenship is Required.
