Associate Electrical Engineer with Clearance – Robotics Electronic Controls Engineer

Ball Aerospace is expanding our expertise to provide exciting and challenging solutions to our customers. Our precision mechatronics and exquisite sensing robotics solutions team works in a fast-paced, highly collaborative development environment to provide continuously evolving capabilities in automation and robotics. We are seeking a component level responsible engineer to provide design and production oversight for electronics components in support of complex, automated, robotics systems. Electrical design activities will include board level design support, component selection support, and harness and interconnect design. Work also includes adhering to engineering guidance to generate and maintain engineering documentation within the configuration management framework of the program.

What you’ll do:

  • Support design activities while implementing Ball Aerospace best practices and demonstrate working knowledge of engineering and manufacturing command media.

  • Expectation is to require minimal level of direct oversight with tasking at a daily rate and ability to coordinate and prioritize tasks accordingly.

  • Demonstrate electrical engineering fundamentals applicable to automation and robotics product base.

  • Creative application of fundamentals and expertise to solve customer problems in novel and cost-effective ways is highly encouraged.

  • Execute and report on designs, trades, and analyses that provide data for decision making within the product team.

  • Prepare and give presentations to peers and internal management.

  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

  • Perform other duties as necessary.

What you’ll need:

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required.

  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.

  • Strong interest working in aerospace, intelligence community, defense, robotics, or automation industry is highly desired.

  • TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph is required.

  • A desire to work in a fast-paced development environment, developing a variety of complex, automated, robotic solutions to meet customer needs.

  • Solid knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals.

  • Working knowledge of ROS (Robotic Operating System) open source platform is highly desirable.

  • Good interpersonal skills.

  • Good communication skills (verbal and written).

  • Proficiency with MS Office tools.

  • Some experience with analog power supply electronics or digital electronics design and analysis.

  • Hands on experience with hardware debugging is a plus.

  • Awareness in design, build, test, and delivery is desirable.

  • Awareness in systems engineering processes including, change management, verification and validation support is highly desirable.

  • Good presentation skills and experience presenting to peers and technical audiences is a bonus.

  • Desire for working and operating within classified program environments is necessary.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or clean room, outdoors or remote research environment.

  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.

  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

  • Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

Successful candidate will have completed a government national security clearance investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. *U.S. Citizenship is Required.
