Job Duties:

Primary Purpose of Position:

Responsible for completing the administrative procedures of US and Canada employee Health and Group Benefit plans (including medical, dental, vision, disability, life/AD&D, HSA, HCRA/DCRA, COBRA, retiree medical and life insurance, wellness programs and others) in a consistent manner within the scope of the Plan Documents, Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs), laws/regulations, and vendor and union contracts.

Essential Functions:

  • Acts as a liaison and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all Health & Group Benefit plans (including, medical, dental, vision, disability, life/AD&D, HSA, HCRA/DCRA, COBRA, retiree medical and life insurance, wellness programs and others) for active and retired employees; resolves escalated benefits administration issues (Tier 2) with HR managers, employees, retirees and/or vendors; tracks and reports on monthly phone/email log based on questions from associates.`

  • Plans and collaborates with HRIS and Payroll to support benefit plan designs; participates on project teams with these partners and others to implement new benefits/programs, supports acquisitions/divestitures, supports union negotiation processes and outcomes/changes, supports system changes, etc.

  • Serves as day-to-day contact for and management of vendor relationships, including a deep working and collaborative relationship with Ball’s Benefits Eligibility Outsourcing partner, with potential ownership of specific vendor relationships or processes.

  • Creates and monitors any required benefit plan funding requests, billing and other reports to Treasury and/or Finance, proactively identifying and recommending remediation of any significant amounts/fluctuations.

  • Participates in and owns certain processes for the open enrollment, including assisting in the development and implementation of project plans, programming specifications, user acceptance testing, communications campaigns, audits, fulfillment and HR support through open enrollment period. This may include on site meeting support and presenting.

  • Documents system/business processes and best practices; identifies areas for process improvement, develops/recommends solutions and implements changes to drive value and efficiency for the business.

  • Partners with Health and Group Benefits Manager to design employee education tools, resources, and communications of benefit and wellness programs, and to improve employee perception and knowledge. This may include on site meeting support and presenting.

  • Assists in the compliance with ERISA, PPACA, IRS, COBRA, Flexible Spending Accounts, Health Savings Accounts and FASB requirements and regulations. Manages and/or participates in benefits-related audits (e.g. dependent audits) and other compliance projects related to SPD’s, 5500’s and SAR’s.

  • Collects data and prepares other management reports related to company Health and Group Benefit plans as requested.

  • While the regular working cycle of this position is usually five days on (Monday-Friday), this job may include working weekends (Saturday and Sunday); working hours may vary as specified by management. Incumbent must be able to work overtime on a regular basis and/or be on call as directed by management.

Position Requirements:

  • Broad training in a related field usually acquired through high school level education or work-related experience.

  • Job related experience for 3-5 year(s) minimum

  • Working knowledge of the following areas:

  • Health care and related benefits

  • Data management

  • Project management and customer service

  • 5% of travel
