Electronics Technical Specialist I
What you’ll do:
Aerospace Flight hardware testing at the PWA and Box level
Fabrication of test cables
Assembly of STE/GSE
Perform certification of STE/GSE and perform board level electronic testing using test procedures.
Executing standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements for electronics hardware testing.
Operate as test conductor unsupervised and know all protocols for handling flight hardware.
Operate as test conductor using the LabVIEW GUI and test scripts for sending commands and monitoring telemetry. This would also include having a through understands of the UUT hardware, software test scripts, and GSE hardware.
Interface with the various 3rd parties such as production, QA, software, packaging and mechanical.
Conceptualize test plan and write test procedures for electronic hardware test for board & box level testing.
Generate weekly or daily email program status updates informing the program of work accomplished, items remaining to be complete, the various roadblocks for completion, and the expected completion time frame.
Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
Perform other duties as necessary.
What you’ll need:
High School diploma or equivalent and 12 or more years of related experience, or a two-year technical degree with 10 or more years
Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Bachelor’s or Master’s, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
Proficiency at using test instruments such as DMM’s, oscilloscopes, and operating Lab view based GUI software for testing is must.
Highly proficient and experience at testing complex PWA’s and Box leveling testing of Flight hardware.
Excellent handling skills for testing STE/GSE, and board testing.
Soft skills such as effective writing, effective verbal skills, organization and clarity of thought, and able to work as valued team member.
High degree of experience as a test conductor testing flight hardware while exercising the proper protocols for ESD and safety.
Must know how to read and follow complex schematics, assembly drawings, and execute test procedures.
Detail theoretical knowledge and understanding of electrical, digital, analog, power, and FPGA electronics.
Expert skills at the fabrications and assembly of GSE test sets, STE racks, and J-STD solder of cable assemblies.
Must be able to test and troubleshoot down to the component level.
Must be competent at operating DMM’s, digital oscilloscopes, functional generators, and programmable power supplies.
Demonstrates a good working knowledge of Microsoft operating system (Windows 7) and MS Office suites Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google searches of data sheets.
Must be willing to learn Ball process software tools like Agile and Velocity.
Must be able to pass and maintain in house certifications, and J-STD workmanship standards.
Ability to complete significant test certification tasks and testing - with little supervision.
Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, clean room, or production floor.
Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
